Pre-World’s Concert Features FMM ‘Unplugged’

The Field Marshal Montgomery Pipe Band of Belfast, Northern Ireland, will headline the annual pre-World Pipe Band Championships concert in Glasgow on August 7th.

Entitled “Unplugged,” the two time World Champions will take the stage of the Royal Concert Hall, promising to provide only pure piping, drumming, and pipe band entertainment, moving away from the current trend of adding electronic instruments to the traditional pipe band idiom.

Field Marshal is planning to showcase well known selections from past performances, as well as brand new material.

The annual not-for-profit concert before the World’s has been promoted by the Glasgow Skye Association Pipe Band since 1994 when the 78th Fraser Highlanders performed at the Civic Centre in Motherwell, Scotland, resulting in the that band’s Live In Scotland recording, which many consider its best. Since then, the concert has featured a veritable who’s who of premier Grade 1 bands, including Shotts & Dykehead, Vale of Atholl, and the Victoria Police.

Further information on the concert and ticket ordering details can be found at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall‘s Web site.
