Prince Charles: ‘no plans to disband’

The Grade 1 Prince Charles Pipe Band of San Francisco is still together and has no intention of breaking up, despite reports circulating on the Internet.

“There are no plans to disband the Prince Charles Grade 1 band,” said Pipe-Major Colin Berta. “We have experienced some turnover, but we have nearly the same [drum] corps as last season.”

Berta stressed that the organization’s Grade 3 band competed at the Sacramento Highland Games and that the organization continues to build for the future.

“[The Grade 1 band is] planning on competing at the Pleasanton Games this year,” Berta continued, “and we are excited about our future prospects and continuing to build upon our strong organizational foundation.”

A source within the Grade 1 band said that the band’s drum section “has decided to sit out the season.”

Prince Charles is one of three Grade 1 bands in the United States. The others are City of Washington and the Los Angeles Scots.
