Qualifying bands announced for Grade 1 World’s Final

Glasgow – August 15, 2009 – After a 15-band MSR Qualifying competition at a wet Glasgow Green, the following five Grade 1 bands emerged as finalists for the afternoon Medley and MSR competitions to determine the 2009 World Pipe Band Champion.
 
Australia Highlanders (Australia)
Ballycoan (Northern Ireland)
Cullybackey (Northern Ireland)
Dowco Triumph Street (Canada)
Fife Constabulary (Scotland)
Manawatu Scottish (New Zealand)
 
These bands join Boghall & Bathgate (Scotland); Field Marshal Montgomery (Northern Ireland); House of Edgar-Shotts & Dykehead (Scotland); Robert Wiseman Dairies-Vale of Atholl (Scotland); ScottishPower (Scotland); Simon Fraser University (Canada); St. Laurence O’Toole (Ireland); and Strathclyde Police (Scotland) in the final.
 
Judges of the Qualifier were Alan Ronaldson, G. Lawrie (piping); Gordon Parkes (drumming); and Denver Cardwell (ensemble).
