Queensland Police Service pulls plug on competition

The Queensland Police Force of Australia have decided that their pipe band will not be allowed to participate in competition, a decision also rendered by the Victoria Police in the late 1990s after that band won the World Pipe Band Championship.

Led by Pipe-Major R.S. MacDonald, the Queensland Police Pipe Band will apparently continue, but only in ceremonial and marketing capacities.

The only remaining competing police pipe band in Australia is the Western Australian Police Pipe Band.
