Quinn packs in

The Grade 3A Quinn Memorial Pipe Band of Northern Ireland has decided not to compete in 2005 and “for the foreseeable future” because of Pipe-Major Harry Bloomfield’s departure for the rival Seven Towers Pipe Band, also graded 3A.

According to sources within the band Quinn “couldn’t find a replacement soon enough, so we decided to knock it on the head and see what the coming years will bring. Also, due to some external pressures on various members, it would have been hard to compete this season regardless if we did have a pipe-major or not.”

Quinn Memorial has had a successful run through the latter grades. Among other prizes, the band gained a fourth in Grade 3A at the Scottish Pipe Band Championships last year.
