RUC Drum Score Book Launched for Charity

“The Royal Ulster Constabulary Drum Score Compilation,” a collection of drum scores “detailing the corps through its history,” will be officially released on August 7, with all proceeds from the book going to the RUC (GC) Widows Association Charity.

According to Gary Corkin, lead drummer for the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) Pipe Band, the collection comprises 40 drum scores, many of which gained major championship titles for the corps during the band’s history; a history of the corps since its formation in 1977; and lists of prizes gained during the band’s history.

The collection will be sold through a wide variety of dealers, and will be available at the World Pipe Band Championships in Glasgow on August 16 for a price of £18.

The Royal Ulster Constabulary Pipe Band was a major force in Grade 1 from the late 1980s through the 1990s, and was particularly well known in its latter years for excellence in drumming.
