Reilly departs RSPBA chair for “personal reasons”

Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association Chairman Kevin Reilly has resigned his position, effective, September 1st, due to “personal reasons.” He had served with the organization for almost 30 years in various capacities, and was appointed Chairman in 2003.

No specific explanation was immediately available, and Reilly had been reappointed for another term in the powerful Chairman role in 2009.

During Reilly’s tenure in office, he helped to oversee the steady growth of the World Pipe Band Championships, implementing spectator seating and expanded coverage. He also worked to enact a new structure for the association after more than two years of planning, adopted at the organization’s last annual general meeting.

The status of a Reilly-led survey of RSPBA members and interested parties regarding further changes to the World Championships is not known. In April Reilly made a trip to the Las Vegas Highland Games as a guest of the event.
