SFU instruments surface

The Simon Fraser University Pipe Band’s 10 drums and Pipe-Major Terry Lee’s full-silver Naill pipes have finally been delivered a week after they were lost by British Airways on the band’s flight home from the World Pipe Band Championships.

Also recovered were the band’s full sets of Sinclair and Naill chanters that were packed separately.

Lee received a call from British Airways “in the wee hours” of Saturday morning to say that the instruments had been located. They were delivered intact that day.

The SFU story prompted Piper & Drummer reader, Brian Doyle of Australia’s Canberra Burns Club Pipe Band, to submit his recollection of his band’s disastrous plight travelling to the World’s a few years ago.
