SLOT Armagh show to debut new material; band penciled in for 2010 Pre-World’s Concert

Dublin’s St. Laurence O’Toole Pipe Band, winners of the RSPBA’s Champion of Champions aggregate award in 2008, will unveil a raft of new music that the band is preparing for the 2009 season at its March 21st show in Armagh, Northern Ireland.

Sources close to the band also said that SLOT has already been “penciled in” for the annual “Pre-World’s Concert” in Glasgow in 2010.

Simon Fraser University, the reigning World Champions, have been secured for this year’s Glasgow concert.

SLOT’s Armagh show is set up as a fund-raiser for the band, to offset expenses for traveling to all five RSPBA championships. Even though new content will be unveiled, the band has named the performance “A Blast from the Past.”

The concert will be at the Armagh City Hotel, with tickets priced at £13 and available directly from the band. There will be a raffle for a set of pipes and other prizes.

SLOT will carry on to another show in Derry, Northern Ireland, on March 28th.

  1. The word blast” would have been inappropriate for a concert ten or so years ago in Northern Ireland. Better times now… and I’m sure the concert will be a success.”
