Second Heat of Piping Centre Quartets

Glasgow – April 25, 2003 – The second heat of the annual Piping Quartet Knockout Competition was held at the National Piping Centre. Six quartets competed, and three went through to the final.

Quartets from the 52nd Lowland Regiment, Dysart & Dundonald, and Vale of Atholl were chosen to compete against heat one winners David Urquhart Travel, Strathclyde Police and Lothian & Borders Police on May 30, again at the Piping Centre.

Competing but not going through were ScottishPower, Clan Gregor, and Glasgow Skye Association.

The 52nd Lowland Regiment is a new Grade 2 band led by acclaimed solo piper Gordon Walker.

Each band played a march, strathspey & reel, and returned to perform a medley after a brief interval.
