Shotts & Dykehead in Major Concert August 8

Reigning World Champions Shotts & Dykehead Caledonia, winners of the 2001 European and British pipe band championships, will take the stage of the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on August 8 for a performance entitles “Calling the Shotts.”

The concert, sponsored and promoted by the Grade 1 Glasgow Skye Pipe Band, will also feature Bagad Brieg, a well known Breton pipe band. It is reported that both bands will play together in a finale that will also include a brass section, guitars and singing.

The annual Glasgow Skye concert is now in its eighth year and has risen to become one of the main events on the pipe band calendar. Always held only days before the World Pipe Band Championships, the concert is often seen as a foreshadowing and showcasing of the potential World Champion for the year.

According to Pipe-Major Craig Campbell of Glasgow Skye, tickets for the event are in high demand but, with a week to go, are still available by contacting the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall box office at +44 141353 8000 or e-mail at gch@grch.com.
