Shotts Takes First RSPBA Major

Dumbarton, Scotland – May 18, 2002 – Shotts & Dykehead Caledonia took out a soaking wet Scottish Pipe Band Championship here today in an event that saw perennial contenders Field Marshal Montgomery finish second, losing after a tie on the ensemble mark that went to Shotts, and the Strathclyde Police, under new Pipe-Major James Wark, take fourth. Shotts also won the drumming.

In Grade 2, Ballycoan of Northern Ireland took the top prize, with the Dumfries & Galloway Constabulary finishing second, while winning the drumming. A tie for first was broken by the ensemble mark.
