Shotts continues drumming expansion

House of Edgar-Shotts & Dykehead Caledonia have expanded again, announcing the addition of more drumming talent to Jim Kilpatrick’s 2003 World Champion drum section by bringing in Norman MacLeod and Carl Lenny as tenor and side drummers.

Norman “Haggis” MacLeod, the well-known tenor drummer who has played with Vale of Atholl and, most recently, the David Urquhart Travel, joins the corps’s bass section. Last week, tenor drummer Tyler Fry of Ontario resigned from the 78th Fraser Highlanders to join Shotts, which now has seven tenor drummers in its ranks.

Carl Lenny, who was lead drummer of the Los Angeles Scots, has rejoined Kilpatrick. Lenny played with Shotts during the drums section’s eleven straight World Championship titles. Lenny returned to Scotland in 2003 after several years in Los Angeles.
