Sixth Annual George Sherriff Memorial Invitational Amateur Scheduled for November 17

Sixteen pipers have confirmed their participation at the 6th annual George Sherriff Memorial Invitational Amateur Piping Competition on November 17 at Convocation Hall at McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario. The contest has quickly risen to become the world’s premier event for amateur pipers.

The event showcases the most successful amateur pipers from the various associations across North America.

Competitors are:

  • Blair Cooper (Saskatchewan Pipe Band Association and Prairie Pipe Band Association of Manitoba)
  • Malcolm Cox, Waterdown, Ontario (PPBSO)

  • Daniel Lidgren, Calgary, Alberta (Alberta Society of Pipers and Drummers)
  • Iain MacHarg, Marshfield, Vermont (EUSPBA)
  • Hector MacQuarrie, Halifax, Nova Scotia (ACPBA)
  • Douglas MacRae, London, Ontario (PPBSO)
  • Sean McGonigal, Kearny, New York (EUSPBA)
  • Doug Miles, California (WUSPBA)

    The competition comprises three events. The 6/8 March contest begins at 9 a.m., the Piobaireachd competition at 1 p.m., and the March, Strathspey & Reel at 7:30 p.m.

    Tickets are Cdn$10, Cdn$5 for students, and are available from the competition organizer, Bob Worrall.
