Spirit of the Glen nominated for Britain’s Album of the Year
The Pipes & Drums of the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards’ CD, Spirit of the Glen, has been nominated for Album of the Year in the “Classical Brits” music awards, one of the highest profile honours in the UK music industry.The Classical Brit Awards are decided by an online voting system where fans can enter their choices for the awards at www.classicalbrits.co.uk/voting. The deadline for entries is April 11 at midnight GMT.The Dragoon Guards signed a £1 million deal with Universal Music in October 2007, and Spirit of the Glen was released in November and reached # 13 in the British Pop Charts by December. The album went to #1 on the British Classic charts.Spirit of the Glen and the Red Hot Chilli Pipers’ CD, Bagrock For the Massesoccupied spots on the British top 100 albums chart for several weeks – the first time in history that two Highland bagpipe-oriented recordings simultaneously achieved that level of success.The Classical Brit Awards will be held at the Royal Albert Hall in London on May 8, 2008, and televised on ITV on May 11th.p|dWhat do you think?
