St. Laurence O’Toole Ties Field Marshal at All-Ireland

Newcastle, Ireland – July 5, 2003 – The St. Laurence O’Toole Pipe Band continued its strong play in 2003 by tying perennial frontrunners Field Marshal Montgomery in points at the All-Ireland Pipe band Championships. Field Marshal was named All-Ireland Champions by merit of higher points in the March, Strathpsey & Reel event.

St. Laurence O’Toole won the Medley contest handily, with two first placings in piping, a first in ensemble and a second in drumming. Field Marshal was equally persuasive in the MSR, with firsts in piping, first in ensemble and second in drumming.

The competition is open to all bands, but designed to bring together piping communities across the island.
