Take 2: RSPBA NI Branch will re-attempt European streaming

It was such a popular idea in 2011 that the inadequate host server at the local high school crashed, but the RSPBA’s ever-industrious Northern Ireland Branch will once again attempt to broadcast the Grade 1 competition from the European Pipe Band Championships, this time with a more robust system in place.

The contest at Stormont, Northern Ireland, competition will go live to the Internet on Saturday, July 28th, beginning at 14:00 GMT. Branch representative Lindsey Ellis said that provisions are in place to handle up to 30,000 viewers at any given time – a far greater number than the BBC has said have watched the World Pipe Band Championships at once.

The broadcast – accessible on the net at www.ljhsevents.com – will be coordinated by LJHS TV, with support from Tourism Ireland and the Ulster Scots Agency.

The European Pipe Band Championships is the third of five RSPBA majors. After taking the British and Scottish championships, Field Marshal Montgomery will look to win its third straight major of 2012, and eighth consecutive championship victory since 2011.
