Toronto Police Take Third Ontario Championship

Barrie, Ontario – July 22, 2000 – The Toronto Police Pipe Band won its first championship in Ontario in nearly five years by taking the fourth Championship Supreme event of the season here today. Peel Regional Police, winners of one of the three previous championships in the season (Fort Erie) finished second, and Celtic Flair of Hamilton, Ontario, came in third.

The 78th Fraser Highlanders Pipe Band chose not to attend the event, the second time this season the band opted out of a competition, citing unacceptable conditions as the reason.

Grade 2 was again won by the Niagara Regional Police Pipe Band, which has all but one contest in which they have played in 2000. Hamilton-Wentworth Police and the MacDonald Juvenile Pipe Band won grades 3 and 4, respectively.

Results in the professional solo piping were varied, with the events not well attended.
