Toronto Police win Chatham

Chatham, Ontario – July 10, 2004 – The Toronto Police Pipe Band won the second championship of the Ontario season here today, beating the 78th Fraser Highlanders on an ensemble preference. Peel Police finished third in the three-band Grade 1 contest.

The Grade 2 contest was won by Cleveland’s North Coast Pipe Band, against a field of three other bands. There was a three-way tie for second prize, with each winner ultimately determined by ensemble judge Ron Rollo’s marks.

James MacHattie, Toronto Police pipe-major, capped an excellent day by taking Piper of the Day honours, gaining the most aggregate points across the professional events.

Weather was warm and humid, with morning clouds giving way to brilliant sunshine in the afternoon.
