(Updated) Queensland Highlanders win Australian Pipe Band Championship

Melbourne, Australia – March 21, 2004 – The Queensland Highlanders Pipe Band of Brisbane, Australia, won the Australian Pipe Band Championships here today is a contest that saw three others bands vie for the title.

Second prize went to the Nunawading Pipe Band of Melbourne, Australia, with the City of Blacktown Pipe Band and the City of Adelaide Pipe Band finishing third and fourth, respectively.

The Manawatu Scottish Pipe Band of New Zealand won the 2002 Australia Championship, but did not travel to defend this year’s title. The event is held every two years.

The Queensland Highlanders won the Grade 2 event at the World Pipe Band Championships in 2001
