Andrew Hayes wins Inverness Gold Medal; Liddell takes Silver Star; Bonar Silver Medal; Eade A-Grade MSR
Inverness, Scotland – September 2, 2010 – Andrew Hayes of Ottawa won the Highland Society of London Gold Medal at the annual Northern Meeting solo pipiing competitions at Eden Court Theatre on the banks of the River Ness. Hayes had been “chapping on the door” for several years, gaining consistent prizes in the contest.

Congratulations Andrew! Well done. Ian Ondrechak
Andrew Hayes = one of the nicest guys in piping, and couldn’t be happier for him! Awesome to see Boney get over the Silver hurdle and take his place in the Gold Medal event! Congrats to all other prizewinners on a good day, especially Jori and Andy R in the Gold Medal.
Congratulations to all the prize winners – regardless of what country you hail from! One day these events may just stop noting country of origin. 🙂
Congratulations Andrew, that’s awesome. RJ
Congratulations to all winners there.. Has any one noticed that Mr. Hayes’ win is only the third piper raised taught and living in Ontario to win a gold medal? I count Livingstone and MacGillivray before him. USA has two with Cusack and Woodly. Brit Columbia one with Jack Lee. Maybe my counts are off a bit. Interesting facts though.
Bruce Woodley is Canadian, raised in BC and a student of Jack Lee’s. USA also has Michael Rogers.
Also…Alan Bevan in BC.
John Cairns. I still consider Glenn Brown Canadian. Bruce Gandy. Alan Bevan. Michael Rogers is from the US. Hard not to count Donald MacPhee as American as well.
No way, not Glenn. He’s got an accent. ; )
BONEEEEEEY, yes!
What about P/S Alisitar Ghillies from Pittsburgh for the USA? My Pipe Major says he has three!
