Blairgowrie a big day for Sarah Muir

Blairgowrie, Scotland – September 2, 2018 – Sarah Muir of Glasgow was the big winner of the top solo piping competitions at the annual Blairgowrie & Rattray Highland Games, winning two of three events at Bogle’s Field. There was some rain in the morning but the rest of the day was dry. Andrew Ferguson was the overall winner in the C-Grade piping, taking the Jimmy McGregor Memorial Quaich.

The competition is well attended and popular with pipers for its impeccable organization and adherence to Competing Pipers Association gradings. The competition also paid respect to the Competing Pipers Association and Solo Piping Judges Association’s mutual policies that students not compete when their teacher is judging, and one adjudicator reportedly made a simple swap in contests before the competition began when a conflict was recognized.
