Greater Midwest wins at warm Chicago

Chicago – June 17-18, 2016 – More than 300 solo competitors and a total of 31 separate band performances populated the warm and sunny Chicago Highland Games, where the Greater Midwest Pipe Band was the overall winner in a tightly contested Grade 2. Grade 2 and Grade 3 bands for the second year played their medleys in concert formation. A change this year had the drumming judge in the rear of the formation but kept the piping and ensemble judges seated at the front. This change was well received by the bands. Almost US$12,000 was awarded in total prize money. Grade 3 and Grade 4 solo competitions were held on Friday afternoon, and organizers might expand this in 2017.
