NZ Police tops at Auckland mini-bands

Auckland – October 15, 2016 – The New Zealand Police Pipe Band was overall first in an inaugural mini-band contest held at Murphy’s Law Irish Bar in Drury, Auckland. The group, led by Pipe-Major Emmett Conway, won the MSR section and gained enough overall points to come out ahead of Canterbury Caledonian, led by Pipe-Major Richard Hawke, in the Grade 1 section.

In a novel approach, the events were judged using two piping and two drumming adjudicators, and all four judges convening to come up with a single ensemble decision.
