Updated: Bevan wins Masters Solo Piping

Glasgow – August 16, 2009 – The final day of Piping Live! brought solo piping enthusiasts together again for the annual Masters Invitational Solo Piping Competition at the National Piping Centre. Alan Bevan of Abbotsford, British Columbia, was the overall winner across the Piobaireachd and light music events.

The contest was sponsored by longtime piping benefactors William Grant’s & Son Distillers.

Glenn Brown was an alternate competitor when Niall Matheson of Inverness, Scotland, could not attend. Also competing but not in the prizes were Niall Stewart, Kyle of Lochalsh, Scotland, and James Murray, Cupar, Scotland.
