Celtic Inn Manawatu Wins New Zealand Championship

Timaru, New Zealand – March 9-11, 2001 – Celtic Inn Manawatu, led by Pipe Major Stewart MacKenzie, won the New Zealand Pipe Band Championship held here over a two-day event.

Manawatu won on aggregate points, taking the March, Strathspey & Reel section and finishing second in the Medley event. Reigning champions Dalewool Auckland & District, under Pipe Major Craig Meinsmith, finished second overall, winning the Medley and being runner-up in the set.
