Henderson mops up at Scottish Junior Solo Piping Championship

L-R: Mark Thomson (sponsor), Faye Henderson, Kirriemuir, Scotland, and Carnoustie Councillor Helen Oswald.Carnoustie, Scotland – September 22, 2007 – Faye Henderson of Kirriemuir, Scotland (pictured right), was the biggest winner of the most senior events at the annual Scottish Junior Solo Piping Championship, one of the most comprehensive solo piping events in the world. The contest is organized by the Practical Pipers Society.

More than 180 competitors, mostly from Scotland but also from Ireland and Canada, took part, with prizes including kilts, jackets, music books and piping school bursaries and, the biggest prize, a set of Shepherd pipes. Henderson, the Scottish Champion, receives an all expenses paid trip to Toronto to compete in the George Sherriff Amateur Invitational Solo Piping Championship on November 27 in Hamilton, Ontario. She also won a trip to the United States for two weeks’ tuition being tutored at a Balmoral Piping School.
