(DVD), Boghall & Bathgate Caledonia Pipe Band

Even though it was a year that saw very few full recordings released, the DVD of Boghall’s 2012 Pre-World’s Concert would stand up at any time as one of the great products ever made. The recording captured the essence of the sold-out event, but, more importantly, serves as an important historical record of one of the world’s all-time greatest pipe bands, and its singular focus to continue to be what it has always been: a community-based group that teaches and builds from within, striving to do more than simply win prizes.

Live at the Quarry, Western Australia Police Pipe Band – considering that WAPOL is in a transitional period, its self-produced CD was a major achievement.

Note – because the CD of Inveraray & District’s Ascension concert was released in the latter part of December 2013, it could not receive a fair listen from our panel, and thus will be considered in our 2014 awards.
