Ascension – Inveraray & District

The double CD of the band’s 2013 Pre-World’s Concert was released at the very end of last year, so it had to be considered for 2014. Awarded a perfect five gracenotes in the pipes|drums review, Ascension is one of the great pipe band recordings of all time.

• Morenn – Xavier Boderiou, with Sylvain Barou and Jacques Pellen – a modern and adventurous take on the antique music of the Highland pipe, with a certain Breton flair made Boderiou’s CD a clever stand-out.
