On the road with Pipe & Sticks on Route 66: Day 4

 

The guys played a selection of tunes together, which including “Amazing Grace,” followed by an appropriate medley of American tunes. Willie then played the lament, “The Flowers of the Forrest.”

The group was invited to view the lower part of the memorial and walk among one of its most poignant areas: The Chairs. This was normally reserved for VIP guests, and this was an emotional visit for the players, film crew and all who turned up to join us. We were then treated to a hearty lunch and refreshments at the local McGivney’s Bar/Restaurant.

Our journey from Oklahoma City to Amarillo, Texas, saw us visiting the town of Clinton, Oklahoma, to see the “Big Milk Bottle” and el Reno, where we went to the Squawk-n-Scoot restaurant.  The rush was on to visit the ghost town of Texola, Oklahoma, before darkness fell. ” and , where we went to the Squawk-n-Scoot restaurant.  The rush was on to visit the ghost town of , before darkness fell.
