The year in news: pipes|drums ranks the top stories of 2010

# 5 – The year of SLOT: It can’t be denied that 2010 was a banner year for Ireland’s St. Laurence O’Toole. They won the World’s and days before that brought the house down at a sold-out Pre-World’s concert in Glasgow. After years of Field Marshal, Simon Fraser University and House of Edgar-Shotts and Dykehead domination, SLOT’s win at Glasgow Green was, to many, a welcome breaking of a 12-year logjam.

  1. Good job Andrew on bringing the pipe band world the most important stories to the forefront. I think you choice for #1 was spot on. What an achievement for such a talented young lady! 2011 should be a good one. I look forward to reading about it every step of the way right here on pipesdrums!
