The year in news: pipes|drums ranks the top stories of 2010

# 8 – The highs and lows of Boghall & Bathgate: the “best band never to win a World’s” endured a topsy-turvy 2010. In May Boghall sadly lost stalwart snare drummer Neil Cranston to a sudden brain aneurism. The band then had its announced third-prize at the World’s revoked due to an administrative error, only to rise again to win the Cowal Championship. The band had another high with a successful concert in Aberdeen, only to mourn another loss when founding Pipe-Major Bob Martin died in October. Can you say resilient?

  1. Good job Andrew on bringing the pipe band world the most important stories to the forefront. I think you choice for #1 was spot on. What an achievement for such a talented young lady! 2011 should be a good one. I look forward to reading about it every step of the way right here on pipesdrums!
