MacMillan, Carnegie Mellon take Norfolk

Norfolk, Virginia – April 27, 2019 – The MacMillan Pipe Band of Maryland won the two-band Grade 2 event at the fourth annual American Pipe Band Championships at the Scope Arena Plaza. The Grade 3A 4th Battalion Royal Regiment of Scotland played up to Grade 2, managing a first in piping from one judge in one event, but otherwise MacMillan swept the rankings. Carnegie Mellon University had a convincing win in the six-band Grade 3 competition, taking both events. The competition brought in Nat Russell from Australia, as well as seven other judges from across North America, with all eight judges assessing the Grade 2 events.
