Alma doubles travel allowances

It might not mean much to many, but the United States Championships at Alma, Michigan, threw down the gauntlet to other events by increasing travel money for bands by 100%. With larger groups increasingly selective as to where they compete, we’re apt to see more contests either step up with more travel and prize money, or – hate to say it – give up entirely.

LA Scots look to 2018

The Los Angeles Scots were the latest band to bow out of 2017 altogether due to a lack of enough members to compete seriously with bigger bands. The LA Scots had been consistent attendees at the World’s over the last 20 years. As with the Ottawa Police, good news is that they are planning a return to the field in 2018.

Inveraray: 2017 British Champions

Inveraray & District made a statement by winning the first RSPBA major championship at Paisley, Scotland, setting up the band for a truly great 2017 campaign.
