Everyone who knew him dreaded the day might come, and when Andrew Bonar of British Columbia left us the piping and drumming world grieved for his family. Despite his passing, Bonar left many contributions to our world in the form of original music, charitable causes and lasting memories.

McWhirter wins eighth World Solo Drumming Championship

The record 16 World Solo Drumming Championships won by Jim Kilpatrick could seriously be eclipsed in the next decade if things continue as they have for Inveraray & District Lead-Drummer Steven McWhirter, who got halfway there at the event at Glasgow Caledonian University. Many say that there is no other drummer in the world who plays with the finesse of McWhirter.

 

Jack Lee: 2017 Glenfiddich Champion

In his sixtieth year, British Columbia’s Jack Lee showed that age is relatively meaningless when it comes to solo piping prowess. His second Glenfiddich title and first since 2003, the venerable Lee was a popular winner around the world.
