It was bad news all around when Perthshire’s greatest pipe band ever decided to fold outright, stunning and saddening the pipe band world. Pipe-Major Adrian Cramb had succeeded in bringing the band up the standings, but when lead-drummer and almost the entire drum section up and left for Lomond & Clyde it hastened the decision to give up the ghost. The Vale still operates its teaching program, so, what is perhaps the most important aspect of the organization remains. We can only hope that another new pipe bad powerhouse emerges from the ashes and memory of the once trend-setting and innovative Vale of Atholl.
